Daddy Day Care

On Wednesdays Jason works from home.  It is his "paperwork" day.  Before Hardin, this day consisted of rushing around to get all of his paperwork done so he could hit the golf course by 1.  Now it is spent trying to get his work done during naps and arranging phone calls around baby talk.  H doesn't fuss all that much, but he is a noisy little guy.  His talking has expanded to flat out yelling.  He gets tickled by how loud he can yell.  He's also started laughing.  I have got to get that on video soon.

My mom tells me all the time how lucky I am to have a man who loves to be with the baby so much.  The first time she left my brother home alone with my dad, B was 5 months old, and dad called the skating rink 30 minutes into my sister's 10th birthday party to have mom paged to come home.  He said he'd deal with a room full of 10 year old girls over a screaming baby any day!  Becky is also loving watching her big boy with his little boy. She says she always knew J would make a great dad, but never knew he'd love it this much.

I'm just happy to have Hardin home with his daddy one day a week.  Jason plays golf every Saturday or Sunday (or both sometimes), and I get H all to myself.  I think if I was home with Hardin all week, I might find that a little annoying.  But since I am at work all week, I am pushing J out the door so I can have some solo baby lovin!  Is that weird?  Oh well.

On a side note, our house is almost unrecognizable after daddy day care.  When my mom is here all day, there is not a thread of carpet out of place.  Now don't go thinking we treat her like Cinderella, she never arrives to a dirty house.  I keep a very clean house for the most part, but NOTHING compares to my mom's kinda clean.  The woman puts Mr. Clean himself to shame.  Daddy, not so much.  It's like a baby tornado passed through.  Cleaning up doesn't bother me one bit though, it's worth it to have J home!

I know this picture is not going to win me any "mommy of the year" contest, but I know one day I'll think about it and want to remember the dreaded scratching.  I really am at my whits end on what to do about it.  The boy won't sleep without access to that hand.  As you can see, it's his favorite thing in the world.  And there is only so much cutting I can do on those nails.  I really do cut them every other day, and mom and I put lotion on his head every time we change him.  He just DIGS no matter what we do.  We grab his hands if we are with him, but the second you turn your head he is doing it.  If any of you mamas know how to stop this, please message me, email me, send a carrier pigeon...  or just pray for him.  Little buddy is breaking my heart with that scratching.

  1. OMG....love the baby tornado picture...so sweet. My mom is the same way at our house...cleaning up all the time...scrubbing my stove, counters, etc. I swear I DO clean, but certainly not as well as her. Don't know what to say about the scratching. I'd say you're doing all you can right now. Can you ask the ped. when you go for his 4 mo. check up?

Also, that "All For Kids" consignment sale is back in Lawrenceville this weekend. It starts today actually.

  2. Loved this post. My mama is always telling me how different the daddies of today are than back when we were little. She says she never left the house without my daddy saying, "Get back soon!" Of course, I only remember my daddy being around all the time. :-)

Also, that is EXACTLY how my house looks after Bill has been alone with the kids. EXACTLY.

Boss was scratched too. Must be a boy thing!
