In less than 24 hours Hardin and I used a full tank of gas in my Matrix. At 37 miles a gallon, that was a lot of car time. Hardin did great, but I'll sure be glad when he is old enough to face forward for my sake and his.
Daddy had a golf tournament Saturday so we hit the ground running to Mary Ellen's house. That lasted less than 2 hours before her sweet little Liddie got sick. It was SO hard to leave Mare and those babies but I am glad we did because the little miss got sick again not long after we left.
We had a little extra time and the weather was perfect, so we headed to LaGrange from Carrollton to visit dad's grave. It was a good idea. And I'm glad I did it. But man, I sure do need more than 30 minutes of prep before that. Normally I have weeks go get my mind right before going. That was a little tough. Lucky for Hardin he slept through the tears.
Next stop was Justin's house for warm baths and dinner with Pop. He hadn't seen H since he's been a real walker and was quite impressed. The kids played outside the entire night.
This morning we walked from their house in Grant Park to the Zoo. The cousins are old pros from living so close, and Hardin thoroughly enjoyed his maiden voyage. He barked at the sheep, growled at the lions, and ran his little self silly. They also got airbrush tattoos that Hardin is still showing off.
H fell asleep in the stroller on the way home and stayed asleep when I transferred him to the car for the ride home. We stopped in Publix and Target before landing at our final destination. Whew.
Daddy got home from playing East Lake with Justin about 30 minutes after us, and I headed straight to Hardin's closet to finish the summer switch I started the other night. I'm right proud of my work. Mostly that I did it instead of laying on the sofa.
Speaking of that closet. I was all excited for Hardin to wear a little smocked outfit today but then it was chilly and we had to borrow a fleece. I'm 0 and 2 for animal themed outings, and both times, Yellow River and Zoo Atlanta, H has worn one of Cawley's sweat shirts. Good thing for older cousins when you have a poor planning mama!

I walked in while she was trying to explain how to get up there to Hardin. Too cute! |
 |
He spotted Ben's tractor and had to sit on it! |
 |
Tried to get all of their attention. Clearly they weren't on board. |
 |
He loved the exhibit where the birds fly all around you and you get to feed them. |
 |
Totally pushing a stranger to get to a bird. We will be working on this. |

One of my favorite pictures of all time. He LOVES Cawley. |

No, the littles did not get to ride in the back. |

So serious taking the train ride in. |
Our weekend was as busy as it was fun! Any other time I'd have a clear calender next weekend after our last couple of weeks and end of month, but not this time. Why? Because my brother will be HOME in FOUR DAYS. And even more exciting is that he says next time he comes home he's staying for good. Hopefully this fall he'll be headed home for good (and hopefully to another good job).
Love the serious face in the first picture! We are going to the zoo over my spring break, and I can't wait!!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you know how much I am drooling over that closet, right? Enjoy. Won't be long until it is full of khakis and polos. BORING.
